This Remembrance Day Marks the 100th Anniversary Of The Armistice

Residents of Warrnambool and surrounding areas are being asked to pause and reflect this Sunday at 11am to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War.

Remembrance day commemorations in Warrnambool will commence with a service at the cenotaph from 10am, including an indigenous smoking ceremony.

Then at the conclusion of the Remembrance Day service, 100 pigeons will be released, marking 100 years since the end of World War 1

Warrnambool RSL president, John Miles is looking forward to a good turn out on the day

"Being a Sunday, I hope there will be a lot of people turn up. (It) should be a good service"

Koroit are holding their Remembrance Day service at the War Memorial, assembling at 10:45am with wreath laying at 11am

The Mortlake service is being held from 10:45am with the wreath laying ceremony commencing at 11am

In Port Fairy, locals are invited to attend the war memorial at Railway Place from 11am for the main service with a short service to follow at 11:30am at the Port Fairy Community Gardens for the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, acknowledging the 100 years since Armistice.
