A grass fire in the Mortlake Flora Reserve four kilometres West of Mortlake has burnt over 450 hectares and kept fire crews busy through the night. It's believed the fire started following a planned burn yesterday afternoon that broke containment lines around 6.45. 16 fire fighting units attended to the fire with back up from a Helitack Helicopter and fixed wing bomber. C.F.A will continue to monitor the fire today.

It's two years since Peter's Project was formed with the focus of setting up a Cancer Care Centre for the southwest based in Warrnambool. Founder Vicki Jelly was inspired to lead the project following the death of her husband from cancer. Vicki says over 427 thousand dollars has been raised by the community ... but they're still waiting on the State Government.

St John of God Hospital's Ann Morris has been named Australian Diabetes Educator of the year. Ann is one of three educators to receive the 2012 award, presented for outstanding patient care and practice in type 1 diabetes. She will be presented with the award in Sydney in May, and Ann is thrilled with her achievement.

Warrnambool Lawn Bowler Kellie Bowles will take on Lindsay Armatage in the Semi final of the Australian Lawn Bowls Open in Darebin today. Kellie is one of four representatives from Warrnambool, with Neil Crisp also making it through to the Mens quarter finals, after defeating Australia's number one bowler Aaron Sherriff yesterday. Kellie says she is looking forward to playing the Australian Vice Captain.
